Without doubt, when I got to see a doctor I did feel really listened to and communicated with.
It's not that the receptionists are discourteous and it may be that I am of a different era.I also understand the need for calls to be triaged. However when I am unwell, getting what feels like the third degree from someone who is not my doctor will, I think, always feel intrusive.
On this occasion I felt like I was not wanted nor entitled to speak to the appropriate person.
Having fallen head to toe down our staircase and blue lighted to St Richards several weeks earlier I don't think it unreasonable to be able to quickly get a face to face appointment
I have already replied to this request.
In case you didn't receive it,
as usual, I received excellent treatment
at Arundel Surgery - now called Arundel Health Centre.

Hi Sandra, Thank you for your feedback. We are still called The Arundel Surgery.
I wanted to get a cholesterol test and rang up in early February. I tried various pharmacies in order to avoid taking up valuable GP time. No tests available. It didn't seem straightforward at the surgery either. I had to see a nurse first, which was some weeks ahead, it wasn't urgent but necessary. Unable to have the test during this appointment, I have had to make another appointment in a week or so.
I was also told that I had just missed the Well Woman Check Ups as I was over 74 - by some 3 years and it seems weird that I'm now excluded from these when surely more check ups are needed as we age, rather than being cut off.
It's not a complaint, it's just that I'm asked to relay my experience! 2 months to wait for a blood test to see if my cholesterol is under control seems a long time. I suppose it used to be routine to go and see the doctor and have everything done there and then, examinations and advice.
Excellent reception staff who manage a whole variety of demanding situations and people with such patience and commitment.
Having been sitting in the waiting room for 30 minutes or so, I heard Mark & others deal with quirky and complex questions. They were patient, resilient and generous and courteous to the visitors. I hope the senior staff are looking after them so they will remain and we will all benefit from that!
The GP I saw was kindly, efficient and their wisdom much appreciated
From Reception to nurse Yolanda, everything went smooth. Yolanda explained everything in detail and made sure I was comfortable and informative about the whole process of the cervical check up.
The Arundel Surgery was awarded the iWantGreatCare certificate of excellence in 2024 for delivering outstanding care.
